Jan’s
teaching philosophy...
All good singing, both classical and non-classical, is based
on the same vocal truths - good breath support, good posture
and balance, good resonance and articulation. I have been
teaching for over fifteen years, and my philosophy is based
on standard classical practices. This type of training enables
students to develop and achieve the freedom necessary for
healthy, long-lasting vocal technique. Once students learn
and understand these basic components, they can then modify
their vocal skills for any type of music. The facility acquired
through healthy singing allows my students to successfully
achieve the vocal requirements for all styles of singing,
be it classical, musical theatre, jazz, pop or rock.
